Redmayne Bentley taking on Multiple Challenges for Dementia Research.

Redmayne Bentley has kicked off its fundraising for a nation-wide charity supporting research into dementia.

The firm’s colleagues at the Leeds office have selected Alzheimer’s Research UK as their chosen charity for 2022.

Fundraising has begun with monthly superdraws and, in celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, a two-day themed bake sale with items donated and bought by colleagues.

Planned fundraising events include teams tackling the Yorkshire Three Peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough to complete the 24 miles within 12 hours, and also taking part in the world's largest 'Inflatable 5K’ at Harewood House.

Dominique McLachlan, a member of the firm’s marketing and communications team, is taking on England 125, a multi-day, 125km ultra-marathon taking place this September, in the Peak District.

Anna Crump, Engagement and Organisational Development Manager, who is also a member of the Leeds office’s Interactive Group which coordinates fundraising efforts, said:

“We are delighted colleagues chose Alzheimer’s Research UK as our Leeds charity of the year for 2022.  Many colleagues have been affected by Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia via family and friends, so we know this charity means a lot to them, and we look forward to supporting vital research to reduce the impact of dementia on society.”

Alzheimer’s Research UK is the country’s leading dementia research charity, which is committed to investigating the causes, diagnosis, prevention, treatment, and cure for a condition that affects nearly one million people in the UK.

Speaking to Alzheimer’s Research UK about working alongside firm with its fundraising efforts, Sara Hoxhaj, Regional Fundraising Officer in Yorkshire, said:

“It’s a great pleasure working with local companies, especially when they’re as proactive and engaged as you have been [at Redmayne Bentley] – you make my job very easy! Not only do you take part in fun endurance challenges that are great for team building, but your fundraising is supporting vital research in your region. Moreover, I value the opportunity to host sessions with employees and share the latest research on how we can take care of ourselves to minimise risk for dementia. Our partnership is indeed very exciting, and I look forward to working together throughout the year taking us all a step closer to being a dementia-friendly company!”
