BHP served with sexual harassment, discrimination lawsuit in Australia

(Sharecast News) - Mining titan BHP is facing a sexual harassment and discrimination lawsuit in Australia relating to allegations made by female employees over a 10-year period. The Melbourne-headquartered company said on Wednesday it had been served with a representative class action proceeding filed in the Federal Court of Australia.

The claim is brought on behalf of all women who worked at BHP's operations in Australia between 12 November 2003 and 11 March 2024.

"The proceeding is at a preliminary stage and the amount of damages sought is unspecified," the company said in a statement.

"BHP's absolute priority is the safety and wellbeing of its people. Any form of harassment is not tolerated at BHP."
