Wednesday preview: US CPI, Bank of Canada in the spotlight
(Sharecast News) - All eyes in the middle of the week will be on the latest consumer price data due out in the States.
At 1330 BST, the Department of Labor is expected to announce that the annual rate of increase in the US Consumer Price Index picked up by a tenth of a percentage point in November to reach 2.7%.
Core CPI however was expected to be steady at 3.3% year-on-year.
Shortly afterwards, rate-setters in Ottawa were expected to announce that they had slashed short-term official interest rates by 50 basis points to 3.25%.
At noon, OPEC was scheduled to release its monthly oil market report.
