Week ahead: US non-farm payrolls, Global PMIs in focus

(Sharecast News) - All eyes over the coming week will be on the release of the "all-important" monthly jobs report in the States at the end of the week. The likely policies of the incoming Trump administration have been in focus over the past two weeks.

But those same policies and their impact will in large part also be a function of the current strength of the US economy, or lack thereof.

Hence the importance of Friday's jobs release.

The JOLTS report on Tuesday will also be closely monitored for further clues regarding the outlook for the US jobs market.

Other key releases to watch out for are the Fed Beige Book on Wednesday and the University of Michigan's consumer confidence survey on Friday.

Also possibly having a big impact on markets during the week will be a raft of purchasing managers' survey results for services sector activity due out on Thursday in the UK, euro area and US.

Another PMI survey, but for manufacturing, from consultancy Caixin, will be released on Monday.
