Week ahead: US PCE price data, Fed minutes in focus

(Sharecast News) - Investor focus over the coming holiday-shortened week will be on the latest US inflation data and their potential implications for Federal Reserve policy. On Wednesday, the Department of Commerce will release its price deflators for personal consumption expenditures covering the month of October.

The day before, the Fed will publish the minutes of its most recent policy meeting.

Those minutes will perhaps be scrutinised a bit more than usual in order to try and glean what impact, if any, the results of the presidential elections might have on central bank policymaking.

Worth noting, US stock markets will remain closed on Thursday and open or just a half day on Friday.

Nonetheless, on Friday the office for National Statistics will release mortgage approval and consumer credit figures for October.

Also due out at the end of the week is a reading for consumer prices in the euro area.
