FTSE 100 movers: Prudential rallies again; Flutter gives back some gains

(Sharecast News) - London's FTSE 100 was up 0.5% at 8,328.07 in afternoon trade on Friday. Prudential jumped to the top of the index as it announced its expansion further into South East Asia through a strategic partnership with Bank Syariah Indonesia.

Through PT Prudential Sharia Life Assurance, Prudential will from early 2025 become the Syariah life insurance provider of Bank Syariah Indonesia, the country's sixth largest bank and the largest Syariah bank by assets.

BSI has more than 20m customers and 1,000 bank branches across the country.

The Asia-focused insurer has gained sharply this week, lifted by news of China's stimulus measures.

On the downside, Betfair owner Flutter was the biggest loser on the index. Earlier this week, the shares surged after it announced a $5bn share buyback and said profits were expected to more than double by 2027.
