Interpath in advanced talks to buy KPMG's French restructuring arm - report

(Sharecast News) - Interpath Advisory is reportedly in advanced talks to buy KPMG's restructuring division in France, with a deal possible as soon as next month. Sky News cited City sources as saying that it was expected to be followed by further acquisitions in the coming months, although Interpath's other takeover targets are predominantly not thought to be part of KPMG's global network.

KPMG's French restructuring arm employs more than 100 people, making it the most significant acquisition since Interpath was created in 2021.

It was unclear on Thursday what the price of the deal might be.

The firm was established as KPMG and its rival big four auditors grappled with the prospect of tougher audit regulation following a string of corporate scandals.

Deloitte also sold its UK restructuring business as a result of looking industry reforms, with that unit now part of Teneo.

Interpath is backed by private equity firm HIG Europe, which is likely to seek an exit or corporate transaction in a couple of years, Sky said.

It has worked on a number of high-profile projects, including advising Sir Jim Ratcliffe's Ineos Sport on cost-efficiency measures at Manchester United Football Club.

Interpath declined to comment to Sky.
