Galliford Try wins government contracts worth £101m

(Sharecast News) - Galliford Try has secured government work worth more than £100m, the construction group said on Friday, including a contract to finish an immigration detention centre. The London-listed firm said its Building Southern unit had reached financial close with the Home Office, through the Ministry of Justice framework, to complete the new £70m, 400-room facility in Campsfield, Oxfordshire.

Under the second £31m contract, Galliford's Building East division has been appointed by the Defence Infrastructure Organisation to work on the Pride II project at RAF Wyton in Cambridgeshire.

Under the contract, Galliford will both refurbish existing office space and create new secure offices for UK Strategic Command.

As at 0845 BST, shares in Galliford were up 3% at 266.83p.

Bill Hocking, Galliford chief executive, called both projects "significant".

He continued: "These appointments in key markets...are testament to our strong track record in collaborating successfully with both organisations and we look forward to working with all stakeholders to create high-quality outcomes for all those involved."
