US jobless claims decline by more than expected

(Sharecast News) - America's labour market remained tight during the latest week. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, in seasonally adjusted terms the number of initial unemployment claims slipped by 11,000 over the seven days ending on 6 April.

That brought them down to 211,000 (consensus: 215,000).

The four-week moving average meanwhile was little changed at down by 250 to 214,250.

Secondary jobless claims, which are those not being filed for the first time and referencing the week that finished on 30 March, increased by 28,000 to 1.817m.
