Week ahead: Federal Reserve, Bank of England in focus

(Sharecast News) - All eyes over the coming week will be on the Federal Reserve and the Bank of England. On Thursday, rate-setters in the UK are expected to announce a further 25 basis point hike in Bank Rate to 5.5%.

Seven members of the Monetary Policy Committee are seen voting for the move and three against it.

Their peers at the Swiss National Bank are also scheduled to make a policy announcement the same day.

The day before meanwhile, the Fed is expected to hold the target range for the Fed funds rate steady at 5.25-5.50%.

However, the U.S. central bank is expected to hold out the possibility of further rate hikes.

A policy announcement from the People's Bank of China is also expected on Wednesday.

Other key risk events to watch out for are UK consumer price data on Wednesday and a raft of purchasing managers' surveys for factory and services sector activity in the UK, euro area and U.S. on Friday.
